Meet Dr. Amr Sheta

Dr. Sheta was born in Egypt in August 1973. He was raised between the UK and Kuwait, where he attended and all American School (UAS in Kuwait) until the age of 14. When he returned to Cairo with his family, he sat for a British High School Diploma, the General Certificate of Education, G.C.E., and obtained his High School Diploma from the University of London at age 15. By the age of 16 he was one of the youngest students admitted to the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Cairo University, where he graduated at age 21 with a Bachelor of Science and Oral Surgery.

Soon after graduation, Dr. Sheta started working with the Dean of his dental school at his private practice in the suburb of Maadi, a practice mainly catering to US and European Expats, as well as US military and embassy personals and their families residing in Egypt. Dr. Sheta also fulfilled a one-year military service as a Dentist Officer as well as a Residency Program at the National Institute of Cancer in Cairo while working at his Dean’s private practice.

In 2000, Dr. Sheta arrived in the US where he was invited by his Uncle, who happened to be one of the pioneers of Medical Practitioners in Las Vegas since the 80’s. He then moved to Los Angeles, CA, where he worked with celebrity dentist Dr. John Ivey at his Beverly Hills Practice for 8 years. Their patients included celebrities like Sharon Stone, Eva Langoria, Jaime Presley, and the late Merv Griffin, as well as musicians like Leonard Cohen, Dido and the Zappas!

Upon the retirement of Dr. Ivey, and his moving out of state, Dr. Sheta moved on to work with an Orthodontist in the Northern Kentucky, where he met his soon-to-be-wife and mother of children and settled there for about 4 years. He then attended an Advanced General Dentistry Program at the Lindsey Hopkins Institute, Miami Dade Community Smiles before moving to Virginia and opening his first practice in the East Beach neighborhood on the Chesapeake Bay. The practice was built from scratch in 2012 and by 2018 he had served over 3000 patients.

Upon transitioning his practice to two dentist friends, he took some time off to attend to his children who were 10 and 7 at the time. He then went on practicing as an associate at multiple practices in the Hampton Roads area until finding his permanent home with Turner Dentistry!

When not working, Dr. Sheta enjoys playing tennis, watersports and spending time with his two kids.
